Akathumuri railway station (station code: AMY) is a small railway station situated in the Thiruvananthapuram district of the Indian state of Kerala. It lies on the Thiruvananthapuram–Kollam coastal railway line and serves the village of Akathumuri and surrounding settlements located along the backwaters of southern Kerala.

Overview
The station functions as a wayside halt on the route connecting the state capital Thiruvananthapuram with Kollam via the coastal alignment that runs parallel to the Arabian Sea and the Akathumuri lake. The line passes through several backwater villages and is one of two routes between the two cities, the other being the inland main line via Kottarakkara.
Location and surroundings
Akathumuri is located close to the Akathumuri Kayal (lake), part of the chain of brackish backwaters in southern Kerala. The neighbouring stations on the coastal line are situated towards Thiruvananthapuram Central in the south and Kollam Junction in the north. The area around the station is largely rural, with coconut groves, fishing hamlets and small-scale agricultural land typical of the Kerala coast.

The station primarily handles passenger and MEMU services operated by Southern Railway between Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. Long-distance express trains generally pass through without stopping. The halt provides basic passenger amenities suited to a small wayside station.
