Like other stations on the Aqua Line, it is built on an elevated viaduct above the road and is designed to handle standard-gauge metro trains running between the eastern and western suburbs of Nagpur.

Background

The Nagpur Metro project was sanctioned by the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra to provide a modern public transport system in the second capital of Maharashtra. The network is built around two corridors that intersect at the city centre: the Orange Line (North–South) and the Aqua Line (East–West). Agrasen Square station is located along the East–West stretch, which connects locations such as Lokmanya Nagar in the west with destinations towards the eastern part of the city.

Facilities

The station, in line with the standard design adopted by Maha Metro across the network, offers:

  • Concourse and platform levels accessible by staircases, escalators and lifts.
  • Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates with smart-card and token-based ticketing.
  • Provision for differently-abled access.
  • Surveillance and passenger information systems.

Significance

By providing a stop along a busy east–west arterial route, Agrasen Square station improves last-mile connectivity for residential and commercial neighbourhoods in central Nagpur, and integrates with the wider Nagpur Metro network through interchange at the central junction of the Aqua and Orange lines.
