Aditi Tatkare is an Indian politician from the state of Maharashtra. She is associated with the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and represents the Shrivardhan Assembly constituency in the Raigad district of the Konkan region. Background

Aditi Tatkare belongs to a politically active family in Raigad district. She is the daughter of Sunil Tatkare, a senior NCP leader who has served as a Member of Parliament from the Raigad Lok Sabha constituency and previously as a Minister in the Government of Maharashtra. Her political base lies in the Konkan coastal belt, an area where the Tatkare family has long been influential within the NCP organisation.

Political career

Tatkare contested and won the Shrivardhan Vidhan Sabha seat, entering the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly as one of the younger women legislators in the House. Shrivardhan, located in Raigad district, has historically been a stronghold of the Nationalist Congress Party.

She was inducted into the Council of Ministers of Maharashtra and given charge of portfolios including Women and Child Development. In this capacity, she has been associated with the implementation of state welfare schemes targeted at women and children in Maharashtra.

Following the split in the Nationalist Congress Party in 2023, Tatkare aligned with the faction led by Ajit Pawar, which joined the ruling Mahayuti alliance in Maharashtra alongside the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiv Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde.

Significance

Tatkare is among the prominent women representatives in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and a notable younger-generation leader within the Nationalist Congress Party.
