Overview
The station lies on the Chennai Beach–Velachery section of the Chennai Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS), an elevated suburban corridor that connects the northern and southern parts of the city. It serves residential areas of Adambakkam and the surrounding localities, providing rail access to commuters travelling towards central Chennai and the southern terminus at Velachery.
Location and connectivity
Adambakkam is a residential locality in the southern suburbs of Chennai, adjacent to areas such as Velachery, Nanganallur and Madipakkam. The station offers connectivity to important intermediate stations including Saidapet, Mandaveli, Greenways Road, Kasturba Nagar, Indira Nagar, Tirumailai (Mylapore), Thirumayilai, Light House, Thirumylai, Park Town and Chennai Beach in one direction, and Velachery in the other.
Significance
