Early Life and Childhood -

Abhishek Sharma was born in Amritsar, Punjab on September 4 in the year 2000. He started playing cricket when he was just three and a half years old under the supervision of his father, who was his first coach. So, cricket runs in the family! His parent’s names are Manju Sharma and Raj Kumar Sharma. He has grown up with his two elder sisters, Sonia and Komal. He finished his schooling at Delhi Public School in Amritsar.

Initial steps into the Fields -

Abhishek was a star when he was playing in the younger levels, and he was even the captain of the India Under-19 team that won the 2016 Asia Cup. The Asia Cup is like the junior version of a big international tournament. He also played a big part in the 2018 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where India won too. These tournaments weren't just about winning medals; by winning these tournaments he learnt how to be a leader and how to handle the pressure of big games. That's when everyone started noticing how hardworking and talented Abhishek is as an Indian cricketer.

Playing ‘in India’ and ‘for India’ -

Before the Indian Premier League (IPL), Abhishek played for Punjab in a bunch of cricket tournaments in India, like the Ranji Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. These are important tournaments where players try to prove how good they are. Abhishek always showed his skills with the bat and also chipped in with his bowling, making him a pretty valuable player for his state team.

In 2024, Abhishek finally got the chance to play for India in some T20 matches against Zimbabwe. A T20 is a shorter, faster version of cricket. He made a big impression by scoring a century (100 runs) in his second game for India! That's a huge achievement for any cricketer and he kept that form going and in early 2025, he smashed 135 runs against England in another T20 game. What was even crazier was that he hit 13 sixes in that innings.

Then, in 2019, he got picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) which was a big break for him because he got to play more often. He usually opens the batting for them, which means he's one of the first guys to go out and bat, and he's known for hitting aggressively right from the start.
In the 2025 IPL season, he did something amazing. He scored 141 runs in just 55 balls against Punjab Kings. That's the highest score ever by an Indian player in the whole history of the IPL! It just shows how explosive he can be when he's on his game.
