Background
The Aqua Line connects Noida and Greater Noida, running between Sector 51 in Noida and Depot Station in Greater Noida. The line was developed by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation, a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Uttar Pradesh, to serve the rapidly urbanising twin-city corridor along the Noida–Greater Noida Expressway.
Alpha 1 station is situated in the Alpha sector cluster of Greater Noida, an area characterised by planned residential blocks, commercial markets, and proximity to several educational institutions.
History
The Aqua Line, including Alpha 1 station, was inaugurated on 25 January 2019 and opened for public service on 26 January 2019. The line forms part of the broader Delhi NCR rapid transit network, complementing the Delhi Metro system.
Station layout
The station follows the standard Aqua Line layout, with the concourse at the first level and the platforms at the second level. Both platforms are configured as side platforms serving trains in opposite directions.
Connections and surroundings
The station provides access to Alpha 1 and Alpha 2 sectors of Greater Noida, residential pockets along the Yamuna Expressway approach, and nearby commercial markets. Feeder buses and auto-rickshaws connect the station to adjoining sectors.
Significance
Alpha 1 is among the key Greater Noida stations on the Aqua Line, serving daily commuters travelling to Noida for work and offering connectivity to the larger Delhi NCR rail network through interchange at Sector 51 with the Delhi Metro Blue Line extension at Sector 52.
