Overview
All India Institute of Medical Sciences Kalyani (AIIMS Kalyani) is a public hospital and medical school located in Saguna, Kalyani, West Bengal, India. It is one of the AIIMS institutions and has been designated an Institute of National Importance. The institute was established by the Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) initiative, with its formation formalised by a Ministry of Health and Family Welfare notification in The Gazette of India on 24 January 2018.
Announced in 2014 and formally approved on 7 October 2015, AIIMS Kalyani broke ground in 2016 and commenced operations in 2019. It was one of six AIIMS institutions to gain functional autonomy that year. The campus comprises a 960-bed Super Specialty hospital and a dedicated medical college, alongside a B.Sc. and M.Sc. Nursing College.

Academics and institution
AIIMS Kalyani is an undergraduate and postgraduate teaching institution with an annual enrolment of 211 students. The MBBS programme has had an annual intake of 125 students since 2020, with selection conducted through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate admissions. The institute also operates a Nursing College offering B.Sc. and M.Sc. Nursing programmes.
The Super Specialty hospital houses 34 specialised departments spanning clinical, diagnostic and foundational medical disciplines, including Anaesthesiology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Cardiology and Physiology, among others. Of the 960 beds at the medical complex, 920 are accounted for by the AYUSH division and the remaining 40 are situated within the outpatient department (OPD).
Background
AIIMS Kalyani is part of the network of AIIMS institutions established across India under the PMSSY scheme to expand access to tertiary healthcare and augment the availability of medical education. Following its announcement in 2014 and approval in 2015, construction commenced in 2016, with operations beginning in 2019, the same year the institute attained functional autonomy along with five other AIIMS institutions.
