WhiteHat Jr is an Indian education technology company that offers online coding and mathematics classes for school-age children. Headquartered in Mumbai, the company delivers live, one-on-one instruction over the internet, with a curriculum focused on programming fundamentals, application development, and computational thinking. It became one of the most widely discussed Indian ed-tech ventures of the early 2020s following its acquisition by Byju's.

WhiteHat Jr was founded by Karan Bajaj, an author and former consumer-goods executive, with the aim of teaching programming concepts to children, primarily in the 6–14 age group. The platform pairs students with instructors for scheduled live sessions, in which learners build small projects such as animations, games, and basic applications. Over time, the curriculum was extended to include mathematics.
The company was launched in 2018 and grew rapidly in India before expanding into international markets, including the United States, with classes delivered in English. Its early growth coincided with the rise of online learning in India and increased household interest in supplementary education.
In 2020, WhiteHat Jr was acquired by Byju's, the Bengaluru-based education technology company operated by Think & Learn Pvt. Ltd. The transaction was among the larger ed-tech acquisitions in India at the time and made WhiteHat Jr a wholly-owned subsidiary of Byju's, while the brand continued to operate under its own name.
Following the acquisition, founder Karan Bajaj continued to lead the company for a period before stepping down. The platform later underwent restructuring as part of broader changes within the Byju's group, including reorganisation of its workforce and operations as the Indian ed-tech sector adjusted after the pandemic-era expansion.
WhiteHat Jr's coding curriculum introduces students to concepts such as sequencing, loops, conditionals, and event-driven logic, progressing to topics like web development, app development, and game design using block-based and text-based programming environments. Mathematics offerings cover age-appropriate concepts aligned with school-level learning. Classes are conducted live with individual teachers, supported by a learning dashboard for parents and students.
The company attracted significant public attention for its advertising campaigns, which were criticised by commentators and some members of the technology community for their portrayal of children's outcomes from learning to code. WhiteHat Jr's marketing, pricing, and instructional claims were the subject of public debate in India during 2020 and 2021. The company also drew attention for legal action it initiated against individual critics, which it later withdrew.
WhiteHat Jr is frequently cited as a notable example of the rapid scaling and subsequent contraction seen in the Indian ed-tech industry around the COVID-19 pandemic. Its acquisition by Byju's, its high-profile marketing, and the public discussion it generated made it a reference point in debates about online learning, advertising standards, and the regulation of ed-tech in India.
