Vinayakan is an Indian actor, former dancer, and music composer who works predominantly in Malayalam cinema, with select appearances in Tamil films. Before establishing himself as an actor, Vinayakan worked as a dancer and also engaged with music composition. His on-screen career began with an uncredited appearance in the 1995 Malayalam film Maanthrikam, after which he gradually transitioned into character and lead roles in Malayalam cinema.
Vinayakan's career-defining performance came with Rajiv Ravi's Kammatipaadam, in which he played the character Ganga. The role won him the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor in 2016, marking his arrival as a leading performer in Malayalam cinema.
Vinayakan gained wider pan-Indian attention by playing the antagonist Varman in Nelson Dilipkumar's Tamil-language action film Jailer (2023), which starred Rajinikanth.
