Vinay Rai

Overview

Vinay Rai (born 18 September 1979) is an Indian actor who works primarily in Tamil cinema, with selected appearances in Telugu and Malayalam films, as well as one English-language film. He began his career as a leading man before transitioning to antagonist roles in later years.

Rai is recognised for his performances in Unnale Unnale (2007), Jayamkondaan (2008), Endrendrum Punnagai (2013) and Aranmanai (2014). These films established his presence in Tamil cinema across romantic, dramatic and ensemble formats.

He took on a villainous role in Thupparivaalan (2017), and has since portrayed negative characters in a number of productions. These include Doctor (2021), Etharkkum Thunindhavan (2022), Oh My Dog (2022), Christopher (2023), Veeran (2023), Gandeevadhari Arjuna (2023), Hanu-Man (2024) and Identity (2025). His later filmography reflects work across Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam-language projects.
