The Vidarbha cricket team is a first-class cricket side that represents the Vidarbha region of eastern Maharashtra in domestic competitions organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The team is administered by the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) and is based in Nagpur. Long regarded as a modest performer in Indian domestic cricket, Vidarbha rose to prominence in the late 2010s by winning back-to-back Ranji Trophy titles in 2017–18 and 2018–19.

Vidarbha is one of two first-class teams from the state of Maharashtra in the BCCI's domestic structure, the other being the Maharashtra cricket team based in Pune. While Maharashtra represents the western parts of the state, Vidarbha represents the eleven districts of the Nagpur and Amravati divisions. The Vidarbha Cricket Association is one of the older affiliated units of the BCCI, with cricket in Nagpur traceable to the early twentieth century.
Organised cricket in the Vidarbha region developed under the Central Provinces and Berar administration during the British period. The Vidarbha Cricket Association was constituted to oversee the game in the region, and following the reorganisation of Indian states the team came to represent the Vidarbha portion of Maharashtra. For most of its existence in the Ranji Trophy, the side struggled against stronger teams from Mumbai, Karnataka, Delhi and Tamil Nadu, and rarely advanced to the knockout stages.
The team's principal home venue is the VCA Stadium at Jamtha on the outskirts of Nagpur, which has hosted Test matches, One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals. Earlier international and domestic fixtures were played at the VCA Ground in Civil Lines, Nagpur, which remains in regular use for first-class cricket.
Vidarbha competed in the Central Zone of the Ranji Trophy alongside teams such as Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Railways and Uttar Pradesh. For several decades, results were modest and the side largely served as a feeder for talent that often migrated to better-resourced state associations.
A sustained programme of investment by the Vidarbha Cricket Association in infrastructure, professional coaches and contracted players during the 2010s produced a notable change in fortunes. Under coach Chandrakant Pandit and captain Faiz Fazal, Vidarbha won their first Ranji Trophy title in the 2017–18 season, defeating Delhi in the final at the Holkar Stadium in Indore. The team retained the title in 2018–19, defeating Saurashtra in the final, becoming only a small group of teams to win consecutive Ranji championships.
Vidarbha also won the Irani Cup in 2018–19, defeating the Rest of India, marking a peak period in the team's history. In subsequent seasons the team has remained a competitive presence in the Ranji Trophy, reaching knockout stages on multiple occasions.
The team is governed by the Vidarbha Cricket Association, headquartered in Nagpur. Chandrakant Pandit's tenure as head coach (2016–2019) is associated with the team's most successful phase. The VCA also runs age-group teams in the Cooch Behar Trophy, Vinoo Mankad Trophy and Col CK Nayudu Trophy, and operates a women's team in BCCI women's competitions.
Vidarbha's twin Ranji Trophy triumphs are widely cited as a case study in how associations outside the traditional power centres of Indian domestic cricket can succeed through professional management, the use of senior guest professionals, and continuity in coaching. The team's success also reinforced the standing of Nagpur as an important centre of Indian cricket alongside its role as an international venue.
