Vantika Agrawal began competitive chess at a young age and rose through the age-group circuit in India, participating in National School and Under-category championships organised under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation. She progressed through age-group events and then into senior competition, earning FIDE women's titles in stages — Woman Candidate Master (WCM), Woman FIDE Master (WFM), Woman International Master (WIM) and finally Woman Grandmaster (WGM).
Vantika is known as a positionally solid player with a strong endgame technique. Her tournament results across classical, rapid and blitz formats indicate adaptability across time controls.
Her trajectory reflects the broader rise of Indian women's chess in the post-Koneru Humpy and Harika Dronavalli generation, with players such as R. Vaishali, Divya Deshmukh, Savitha Shri and Vantika Agrawal forming the cohort expected to drive Indian women's team performance through the 2020s. Vantika has been part of national squads alongside these players in continental and world team competitions.
