It was set up by the promoters of the Institute of Engineering & Management (IEM), Kolkata, as part of an effort to expand the group's academic footprint in northern India. The campus is situated on the outskirts of Jaipur, providing a residential learning environment.
The university is organised into multiple faculties and schools. Common areas of study include:
The campus houses academic blocks, laboratories, a central library, hostels, sports facilities, and amenities for student activities. The university hosts technical fests, cultural events, and inter-college competitions, and operates student chapters of professional bodies along with clubs in robotics, coding, entrepreneurship, and the arts.
As a state private university, UEM Jaipur is empowered to award degrees under the provisions of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. Its programmes are designed in line with regulations of statutory bodies relevant to the disciplines offered, including the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for technical programmes.
UEM Jaipur contributes to the growing landscape of private higher education in Rajasthan, a state that has seen a steady expansion of self-financed universities since the late 2000s. By extending the IEM–UEM group's presence to western India, the institution serves students from Rajasthan and neighbouring states seeking professional and research-oriented programmes.
