Ultraviolette was founded by Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan with the objective of developing performance-oriented electric motorcycles engineered in India. The company combined expertise in industrial design, software, and battery systems to focus on a segment that, at its founding, was largely unaddressed by domestic electric two-wheeler manufacturers, who were mostly building scooters and commuter vehicles.
The Indian conglomerate TVS Motor Company took an early strategic stake in Ultraviolette, providing investment and engineering collaboration. The company has also attracted investment from other backers interested in the Indian clean mobility sector.
The F77 is Ultraviolette's flagship electric motorcycle. It features a faired sportbike design, a lithium-ion battery pack, regenerative braking, multiple ride modes, and connected-vehicle features delivered through a companion mobile application. The motorcycle is positioned in the premium performance category rather than as a commuter vehicle.
Ultraviolette is among the few Indian companies focused specifically on premium electric motorcycles, as opposed to electric scooters or low-speed commuter two-wheelers. Its emergence reflects the broader diversification of India's electric mobility ecosystem, in which start-ups based in cities such as Bengaluru and Chennai are developing indigenous platforms for batteries, motors, and vehicle electronics. The partnership with an established manufacturer such as TVS also illustrates a pattern of collaboration between traditional Indian automotive firms and newer EV-focused ventures.
