Trent Boult

Trent Alexander Boult (born 22 July 1989) is a New Zealand cricketer who represented the New Zealand national cricket team across all three international formats between 2011 and 2024. A left-arm fast-medium bowler and right-handed batsman, he is regarded as one of the leading new-ball bowlers of his generation. Boult continues to play in various Twenty20 leagues around the world.

Background

Boult emerged through New Zealand's domestic cricket structure as a left-arm seamer known for swing with the new ball. He made his international debut in Test cricket in December 2011, and followed it with a One Day International debut in July 2012.

Boult was a key member of the New Zealand side that won the inaugural ICC World Test Championship across the 2019–2021 cycle, defeating India in the final.

One Day Internationals

Boult was the joint leading wicket-taker at the 2015 Cricket World Cup, where New Zealand finished as runners-up. He was also part of the New Zealand squad that finished as runners-up at the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

In November 2018, Boult became the third bowler for New Zealand to take a hat-trick in ODIs. In June 2019, he became the first bowler for New Zealand to take a hat-trick in a Cricket World Cup match.

Twenty20 leagues

After stepping back from a centrally contracted role with New Zealand Cricket, Boult has continued to feature as a fast bowler in various Twenty20 franchise leagues around the globe.
