He trained in martial arts from a young age and holds a fifth-degree black belt in taekwondo. He is also trained in gymnastics and several other martial arts disciplines, which became central to his on-screen persona.
Shroff made his acting debut in Heropanti (2014), produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and directed by Sabbir Khan. The film, which featured Kriti Sanon in her debut role, performed well commercially and earned Shroff the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut.
He followed up with Bang Bang! (2014, in a smaller role) and starred in Baaghi (2016), again directed by Sabbir Khan, opposite Shraddha Kapoor. Baaghi launched what became a recurring action franchise for him. He next appeared in A Flying Jatt (2016), a superhero film directed by Remo D'Souza.
In 2018, he featured in Baaghi 2, directed by Ahmed Khan, which became one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of that year. He starred in Student of the Year 2 (2019) under Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, followed by War (2019), directed by Siddharth Anand and co-starring Hrithik Roshan, which became a major commercial success and a part of the YRF Spy Universe.
He reprised his role in Baaghi 3 (2020). Subsequent releases include Heropanti 2 (2022) and Ganapath (2023). He returned to the screen in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (2024), directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, opposite Akshay Kumar.
Shroff has released a number of singles, including "Unbelievable" and "Casanova", and has appeared in dance numbers across his films. He has been associated with fitness and lifestyle ventures, including the MMA-focused gym chain MMA Matrix, co-founded with his sister Krishna Shroff.
Tiger Shroff is regarded as one of Hindi cinema's prominent action stars of the 2010s and 2020s, with a screen image built around martial arts, stunt work, and dance. His emergence coincided with a renewed mainstream interest in action-led Hindi films, and the Baaghi series became one of the more durable action franchises of the period. War further consolidated his standing as a leading commercial actor.
Shroff is the son of veteran actor Jackie Shroff, whose career in Hindi cinema spans the 1980s onwards. He is known publicly for his focus on fitness, gymnastics, and martial arts training.
