Tanla was founded by D. Uday Kumar Reddy, who serves as the chairman and chief executive officer. The company began as a provider of telecom value-added services in India, with an early focus on SMS aggregation and mobile messaging infrastructure for telecom operators. Over time, it evolved into an enterprise communications platform serving banking, financial services, e-commerce, and government clients that rely on transactional and promotional messaging at scale.
Tanla's offerings centre on enabling businesses to communicate with end users across channels such as SMS, voice, email, and rich messaging formats including RCS (Rich Communication Services) and WhatsApp Business. The company processes a large volume of A2P messages routed through Indian mobile networks, positioning it among the significant CPaaS providers operating in the country.
Tanla developed Trubloq, a blockchain-based platform aimed at addressing regulatory requirements set by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for commercial communications. Trubloq was designed to help curb unsolicited commercial communication (UCC) and to provide consent and scrubbing functions in line with TRAI's distributed ledger technology (DLT) framework for telemarketing.
The company has also marketed a private CPaaS offering branded Wisely, developed for cross-border enterprise messaging.
Tanla is one of the larger India-headquartered companies in the cloud communications space, and its infrastructure handles a substantial share of enterprise SMS traffic on Indian telecom networks. Its work on blockchain-based message scrubbing is associated with the Indian regulatory effort to control spam and unsolicited commercial messaging under TRAI's framework.
