It was later renamed Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited to reflect a broader customer base beyond a single community.
While the bank's network is concentrated in Tamil Nadu, where it has a dense branch presence in commercial districts, towns and rural areas, it also operates branches across other Indian states. The bank's early decades were marked by steady regional growth as a community-rooted commercial bank. After being renamed Tamilnad Mercantile Bank, it gradually expanded its branch network outside Tamil Nadu and modernised its operations with core banking, ATM services, internet banking and mobile banking.
