Overview

Taijul Islam (Bengali: তাইজুল ইসলাম; born 7 February 1992) is a Bangladeshi cricketer who plays for the national team as a left-arm orthodox spinner. He has represented Bangladesh in international cricket since 2014 and is the leading wicket-taker for his country in Test cricket.

After a strong showing in the 2013–14 domestic season, Taijul was selected for Bangladesh A. He went on to make his Test debut for Bangladesh during the side's 2014 tour of the West Indies, where he claimed a five-wicket haul on debut.

Later that year, when Zimbabwe toured Bangladesh, Taijul recorded bowling figures of 8/39, the best figures by any Bangladeshi bowler at Test level. He made his One Day International debut during the same series and took a hat-trick on debut, becoming the first player to achieve a hat-trick on ODI debut.
