Symbiosis Skills and Professional University (SSPU), formerly known as Symbiosis Skills and Open University, is a university located in Pune, Maharashtra, India. Established by the Symbiosis Open Education Society, it is the first skill-building and development university in the state of Maharashtra. The legislation enacting the university was passed by the state on 3 May 2017.
The university focuses on skill-oriented education with the objective of creating industry-ready youth capable of working efficiently in organisations. It offers diplomas, degrees and certificates across a range of disciplines, including Automobile, Construction, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Beauty and Wellness, Data Science, Retail, Logistics and Ports, and Architecture. SSPU has been ranked by the Government of India's National Institutional Ranking Framework in the Skills University category.
To align its curriculum with industry requirements, the university has built ties with several leading organisations for joint curricula development. Its industry partners include Shoppers Stop, Daikin, LSC and Enrich.
