Swaroop Sampat is an Indian actress, educator and writer best known for her work in Hindi cinema and television during the 1980s. She rose to popular recognition after winning the Femina Miss India title in 1979 and subsequently appeared in films and television serials, most notably the comedy series Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi. In later years, she shifted her focus to education, completing doctoral research on the use of drama as a learning tool for children with learning difficulties.

Swaroop Sampat was born into a Gujarati family. She pursued higher education alongside her early career in entertainment and later returned to academic work in a sustained manner. After winning Femina Miss India in 1979, she represented India at the Miss Universe pageant the same year.
Sampat is most widely remembered for her role in Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, one of the earliest situation comedies on Doordarshan, telecast in the mid-1980s. The series, in which she appeared alongside Shafi Inamdar, Rakesh Bedi and Satish Shah, became a landmark of early Indian television comedy.
She appeared in a number of Hindi films during the 1980s. She returned to films later in supporting roles, including a part in Ki & Ka (2016), directed by R. Balki.
Sampat undertook doctoral studies in education, focusing on the use of drama as a pedagogical method, particularly for children with learning difficulties. She has worked with school systems and teacher-training programmes, conducting workshops that apply theatre techniques to develop life skills, communication and creative thinking among students. She has been associated with educational initiatives that promote drama-in-education methods in Indian classrooms.
She has authored books and resource material on drama in education and life-skills training for children, drawing on her academic research and field workshops with teachers and students.
Swaroop Sampat is married to actor and politician Paresh Rawal, who has served as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha from Ahmedabad East. The couple have two sons; the elder, Aditya Rawal, is a writer and actor.
Sampat occupies a distinctive position in Indian public life, combining a prominent early career in cinema and television with a sustained, research-based contribution to education.
