Prabhudessai hails from Goa, a small state on the western coast of India that competes in the Plate Group of the Ranji Trophy and other domestic tournaments organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He developed through age-group cricket in the state before progressing to the senior side.
Prabhudessai represents Goa across the major formats of Indian domestic cricket, including the Ranji Trophy (first-class), the Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A) and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (Twenty20).
He was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League and was retained by the franchise for subsequent seasons before moving on in later auctions. His performances in domestic limited-overs cricket for Goa contributed to his selection at the franchise level.
Prabhudessai is among a small group of cricketers from Goa to have earned an IPL contract, reflecting the gradual emergence of players from smaller domestic units in India's franchise-based Twenty20 league.
