Marsh built his domestic career with Western Australia, the team with which he was long associated in Australian first-class and List A cricket. On 10 March 2023, Marsh announced his retirement from first-class cricket. At the time of the announcement he was set to continue playing in the Big Bash League (BBL) with the Melbourne Renegades.
As a long-serving left-handed top-order batsman with international experience across all three formats and a lengthy domestic career with Western Australia, Marsh is regarded as a notable figure of his generation in Australian cricket. His career also forms part of the broader Marsh family legacy in the Australian game.
