Saranya Ponvannan (born Sheela Christina) is an Indian actress who works predominantly in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam cinema, with a few appearances in Kannada-language films. She made her screen debut in a leading role in Mani Ratnam's Nayakan (1987) and continued to play female leads through the late 1980s and early 1990s before transitioning to character roles in the 2000s.

Born Sheela Christina, the actress adopted the screen name Saranya, later prefixed with her husband's name as Saranya Ponvannan, by which she is widely known in the South Indian film industry.
Saranya entered Tamil cinema with a lead role in Mani Ratnam's critically acclaimed crime drama Nayakan (1987). Through the late 1980s and the first half of the 1990s, she continued to feature in leading roles across Tamil and other South Indian language films.
After 1996, Saranya took an eight-year break from films. She returned to acting in 2003, this time taking up character roles—most often portraying mothers and elder family members—in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and occasional Kannada productions.
In 2022, she made her Hindi-language film debut with Chup: Revenge of the Artist.
