Sankalchand Patel University (SPU) is a private university located in Visnagar, in the Mehsana district of Gujarat, India. The institution functions as a multi-disciplinary university serving students from Gujarat and other parts of India.
The university was established in 2016 by the Nootan Sarva Vidyalaya Kelvani Mandal, an educational trust active in the region. It was formally constituted under The Gujarat Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2016, a state legislation enacted to recognise and regulate private universities in Gujarat.
The same amendment act also provided for the establishment of three other private universities in the state, namely Anant National University, Marwadi University and Plastindia International University. Sankalchand Patel University thus forms part of a wider expansion of private higher education in Gujarat during that period.
