Lamichhane made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut against the West Indies, representing a World XI team. With this appearance, he became the first cricketer to make a T20I debut while representing a combined team rather than a national side.
In August 2018, he was among the eleven cricketers who played in Nepal's first ever One Day International (ODI), against the Netherlands. He went on to become Nepal's highest wicket-taker in both ODIs and T20Is.
In December 2021, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) named Lamichhane the captain of the national team, succeeding Gyanendra Malla.
Lamichhane has been associated with Twenty20 leagues across multiple countries:
Lamichhane's career has been closely tied to the international rise of Nepalese cricket. As Nepal's leading wicket-taker in white-ball formats and the first cricketer to make a T20I debut for a combined World XI side, he occupies a notable place in the sport's recent history. His sustained presence in major franchise leagues has also helped raise the profile of cricket in Nepal.
