Varma made her cinematic debut in 1999 with Veendum Chila Veettukaryangal, in which she played the female lead. Her performance earned her the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress, an unusually early recognition for a debutant. Over the next three years she became one of the prominent leading actresses of Malayalam cinema, building a filmography of 18 films before withdrawing from screen work in 2002.
Samyuktha Varma married Malayalam film actor Biju Menon in 2002. She retired from acting around the time of her marriage.
Despite a career spanning only about three years, Varma's work in late 1990s and early 2000s Malayalam cinema is regarded as significant. Her recognition with state and Filmfare honours within a short span made her one of the noted female leads of that period in Kerala's film industry.
