Sami Aslam

Overview

Sami Aslam (born 12 December 1995) is a Pakistani-born cricketer who represented the Pakistan national cricket team between 2015 and 2017 before later joining Major League Cricket in the United States. A left-handed batsman, he also bowled occasional right-arm off spin.

Aslam first came into prominence through age-group cricket. He was part of the Pakistan Under-19 side at the 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in Australia, and went on to captain the team at the 2014 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, leading Pakistan to the final of the tournament. He is the second-highest run-scorer in Under-19 ODI history with 1,695 runs. In 2014, he was selected for the Pakistan Cricket Board's summer camp.

After making his international debut, Aslam played his last series for Pakistan in October 2017 against Sri Lanka. In domestic cricket, he was named in Punjab's squad for the 2019 Pakistan Cup in March 2019, and in September 2019 he was included in Southern Punjab's squad for the 2019–20 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy.

In November 2020, Aslam brought his career in Pakistan to a close, with an aim of representing the United States, for which he would become eligible in November 2023. In June 2021, he was selected in the players' draft ahead of the Minor League Cricket tournament. In March 2023, he was drafted to the Texas Super Kings in the fifth round of the Major League Cricket draft.
