The company entered the Indian private FM radio sector during the expansion phase that followed the Government of India's Phase II FM licensing rounds, building one of the larger station networks in the country.

Operations

Big FM

The flagship operation of RBNL is 92.7 BIG FM, a network of FM radio stations broadcasting across multiple Indian cities in several languages. The stations carry a mix of film music, talk content, and locally produced programming tailored to regional audiences.

Other ventures

Over the years, RBNL has been associated with allied broadcasting and content businesses, including television and event-based ventures, some of which were operated through joint ventures and subsidiaries.

Significance

As one of the early large-scale private FM operators in India, Reliance Broadcast Network played a role in shaping the post-liberalisation radio industry, contributing to the spread of FM broadcasting beyond metropolitan centres into Tier II and Tier III cities. Its Big FM brand is among the recognised names in Indian commercial radio.
