Ramnagar College offers three-year undergraduate honours and general programmes across the humanities, natural sciences and commerce. Ramnagar lies in the southern coastal portion of Purba Medinipur, close to the seaside town of Digha. The college plays an important role in providing access to higher education for students from rural and semi-urban communities in this part of the district, many of whom would otherwise need to travel to Contai (Kanthi), Tamluk or Midnapore for college-level studies.
The college is governed by a managing committee in line with the regulations of the Government of West Bengal's Department of Higher Education and the statutes of Vidyasagar University. Day-to-day administration is led by the Principal, supported by teaching faculty and non-teaching staff. Like most aided colleges in the state, it follows the admission, fee and reservation policies framed by the state government.
The institution maintains a students' union, a library, laboratories for the science departments, and facilities for sports and cultural activities. Annual cultural programmes, departmental seminars and inter-college events form a regular part of campus life.
