Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) is a public institute located at Jais in the Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh, India. The institute was earlier associated with Raebareli before the reorganisation of districts. It focuses on education and training in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and the petroleum industry.
RGIPT was formally opened in July 2008. It has been accorded the status of an Institute of National Importance, with a governance structure similar to that of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Admission to undergraduate programmes at RGIPT is made on the basis of the rank list of candidates who have qualified the Joint Entrance Examination – Advanced (JEE Advanced).
