Prem Singh Tamang

Overview

Prem Singh Tamang, better known as P. S. Golay, is an Indian politician and former teacher from Sikkim. Born on 5 February 1968, he has served as the Chief Minister of Sikkim since 27 May 2019 and also functions as the Leader of the House in the state legislative assembly.

Tamang is the founding leader of the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), a regional political party which he has led since 2019. Prior to establishing the SKM, he was a key member of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF).

He has had a long electoral career in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly. He represented the Chakung constituency from 1994 to 2009, followed by Upper Burtuk from 2009 to 2019. Since 2019, he has represented the Poklok-Kamrang constituency.
