Prachi Desai is an Indian actress who works primarily in Hindi cinema and television. She rose to popularity as the lead in the Indian television soap Kasamh Se on Zee TV, and later transitioned to films, making her Bollywood debut in Rock On!! (2008).

Prachi Desai was born on 12 September 1988 in Surat, Gujarat, and brought up in Mumbai. She studied at Sanjeevan Vidyalaya in Panchgani, a hill-station boarding school in Maharashtra, before moving on to higher studies at Sinhgad College in Pune. She entered the entertainment industry as a teenager through television.
Desai became widely known after being cast as Bani Walia in the Balaji Telefilms-produced soap opera Kasamh Se, which premiered on Zee TV in January 2006. The show, created by Ekta Kapoor, ran for several years and made Desai a household name. Her performance fetched her the Indian Telly Award for Fresh New Face (Female) in 2006 and she was repeatedly featured among the most popular television actresses of the period.
She later appeared as a contestant on the dance-based reality programme Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, which she went on to win, further raising her profile before her shift to films.
Desai made her Hindi film debut opposite Farhan Akhtar in Abhishek Kapoor's Rock On!! (2008), produced by Excel Entertainment. The film was a critical success and won the National Film Award for Best Hindi Film, and Desai received the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for her role as Sakshi.
