Nevill broke into the Australian Test side during the 2015 Ashes series in England, making his debut in the second Test of that series. He went on to become Australia's regular Test wicket-keeper, holding the position until he was dropped from the side in November 2016.
In the shortest format, Nevill made his Twenty20 International debut for Australia against South Africa on 4 March 2016. He played a total of 9 T20Is for the national side.
At the domestic first-class level, Nevill represented New South Wales. In the Big Bash League, he played for the Sydney Sixers and the Melbourne Renegades before joining the Melbourne Stars.
Nevill retired from professional cricket in April 2022, ending a career that spanned domestic competition in Australia, franchise Twenty20 cricket and a stint as Australia's first-choice Test wicket-keeper.
Nevill's tenure as Australia's Test gloveman during 2015 and 2016 placed him within the lineage of Australian wicket-keepers in a transitional period for the national side. His selection during the 2015 Ashes marked a significant change in the Test team during a high-profile series.
