Samthaan made his television debut with a brief appearance in the daily soap Kya Huaa Tera Vaada on Sony Entertainment Television in 2012. He followed this with a role in the youth drama Best Friends Forever? on Channel V India.
His breakthrough came with Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan, a youth show on Channel V India that premiered in 2014, in which he played Manik Malhotra, the lead vocalist of a fictional college band called Fab5. The role established him as a popular face among younger audiences. The show ran for multiple seasons, and Samthaan reprised the character in subsequent reunions and digital revivals on streaming platforms.
In 2018, Samthaan was cast as Anurag Basu in the reboot of Ekta Kapoor's Kasautii Zindagii Kay on StarPlus, produced by Balaji Telefilms. He played the male lead opposite Erica Fernandes. The series ran until 2020, and the role significantly expanded his mainstream recognition on Hindi general entertainment television.
Samthaan has appeared in music videos, web content and reality formats. He has also been associated with stage shows and televised award functions in India and abroad as part of ensembles of Indian television actors.
Samthaan is among the recognisable young leads of post-2010 Hindi television. He has been featured in popularity polls and "young achiever" listings published by Indian entertainment magazines covering the small screen, and maintains a substantial presence on social media platforms.
Samthaan's career reflects a broader trend in the Indian television industry during the 2010s, in which youth-targeted shows on niche channels such as Channel V served as launchpads for actors who later moved to lead roles on prime-time general entertainment networks. His transition from Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan to Kasautii Zindagii Kay is often cited as an example of this pipeline.
