Parle Agro traces its lineage to the original Parle business founded by the Chauhan family of Vile Parle, Mumbai. Over the decades, the wider Parle enterprise was divided among different branches of the family, resulting in three independent companies that share the Parle name: Parle Products (biscuits and confectionery), Parle Agro (beverages and foods), and Parle Bisleri (packaged water). Parle Agro evolved as the beverages-focused arm of this lineage and is led by the Chauhan family.
The company is run by members of the Chauhan family. Prakash Chauhan serves as chairman and managing director, while his daughters Schauna Chauhan, Alisha Chauhan and Nadia Chauhan hold senior executive roles, with Schauna Chauhan widely associated with the chief executive role and Nadia Chauhan with marketing and brand strategy.
Parle Agro operates through a mix of company-owned manufacturing units and contract bottling partners across India. Distribution covers urban and rural markets via a multi-tier network of distributors, wholesalers and retailers, with the company also exporting Frooti and other beverages to several international markets in Asia, Africa, the Middle East, North America and Europe.
Parle Agro is regarded as one of the pioneers of the branded mango drink category in India through Frooti, which played a defining role in introducing Tetra Pak beverages to Indian consumers in the mid-1980s. Appy Fizz similarly created a distinct non-cola fizzy drink segment in the Indian market. The company is among the leading Indian-owned players in the non-alcoholic beverages industry, competing with multinational firms such as The Coca-Cola Company and PepsiCo as well as domestic players including Dabur and ITC.
