Karkala is a historically significant town in coastal Karnataka, known for its Jain heritage, including the monolithic Bahubali statue erected in the 15th century, as well as several temples and basadis. The town lies in the cultural region traditionally referred to as Tulu Nadu, which forms part of the wider Parashurama Kshetra extending along the western coast.
According to popular Hindu tradition, Parashurama reclaimed the strip of land between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea from the sea, creating the coastal regions covering parts of present-day Konkan, coastal Karnataka and Kerala. The theme park draws on this legend as the basis of its design and storytelling.
The park forms part of the religious and cultural tourism circuit of coastal Karnataka, alongside other landmarks in and around Karkala such as the Anekere tank, the Bahubali statue at Karkala, and the Chaturmukha Basadi. By presenting episodes from the Parashurama legend, it serves both a devotional and an educational purpose for visitors interested in regional mythology and heritage.
