The college is run by a private educational trust and operates as a self-financing institution. It is named after its patron, and like many engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu, it grew during the period when private technical education expanded rapidly in the state to meet rising demand for engineering graduates. The institution sits on the outskirts of Dindigul town, with the campus accessible from the Dindigul–Madurai corridor.
PSNA College of Engineering and Technology offers programmes at the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.), Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.), Master of Engineering (M.E.), Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) and Master of Computer Applications (M.C.A.) levels. The curriculum, examinations and award of degrees are governed by Anna University. The institution also functions as a recognised research centre under the university for selected disciplines, allowing scholars to pursue doctoral studies.
The college typically organises its teaching through engineering and science departments. Common branches available at such institutions, and offered here, include:
Programmes follow the credit-based semester system prescribed by Anna University, with internal continuous assessments and end-semester university examinations. Students undertake laboratory work, mini-projects, an industrial internship and a final-year project as part of the degree requirement.
Admission to undergraduate engineering programmes is primarily through Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA), conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu, on the basis of marks obtained in the higher secondary examination. A portion of seats is filled under the management quota as permitted by the regulatory framework for self-financing colleges. Postgraduate admissions to M.E. and M.Tech. programmes are made through the Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) counselling process. M.B.A. and M.C.A. admissions also follow TANCET-based counselling, with management seats filled separately. Lateral entry into the second year of B.E./B.Tech. is offered to diploma holders through the state-level lateral entry counselling.
The campus houses academic blocks for the engineering departments, central administrative offices, laboratories, drawing halls and workshops. A central library supports academic and research work, with access to print volumes, journals and digital resources including online databases subscribed through institutional consortia.
Other campus facilities commonly available include:
Students participate in technical symposia, departmental associations, cultural festivals and sports tournaments held within the campus and at other engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu.
