Robinson began his county career in the English domestic circuit, with stints at Yorkshire and Hampshire before settling at Sussex, where he established himself as a frontline seam bowler. He bowls right-arm medium pace and has been a regular feature of Sussex's bowling attack in the English County Championship.
Robinson made his Test debut for England in 2021. He has played 20 Test matches for the national side. After a prolonged absence from the international game owing to injury, he returned to the Test side during England's tour against India, featuring most recently in the 4th Test of the 2024 series.
Robinson holds the record for the most expensive over ever bowled in the English County Championship, having conceded 43 runs in a single over against Leicestershire in June 2024.
Robinson is regarded as one of the seam-bowling options England have used in red-ball cricket since the early 2020s. His career has been marked by both Test selection at a relatively senior age and recurring fitness issues, which have shaped the rhythm of his international appearances.
