The Oberoi Group, founded by Mohan Singh Oberoi, operates hotels under two principal brands. The Oberoi brand caters to the luxury segment, while Trident is positioned as a five-star upscale brand. At several locations, the two brands have been developed as a combined complex sharing infrastructure such as banqueting facilities, while maintaining distinct guest experiences, lobbies and service standards.
The Oberoi and Trident brands together form one of the most prominent Indian-owned luxury hotel chains. The combined Oberoi–Trident complexes have featured in significant events in Indian hospitality history; the Oberoi Trident at Nariman Point in Mumbai was among the sites affected during the 2008 Mumbai attacks, after which the properties were renovated and reopened.
