Nithiin entered the Telugu film industry in the early 2000s and has since worked primarily as a leading man in romantic dramas and mainstream commercial films. Beyond acting, he has expanded his presence in the industry through film production.
Nithiin made his acting debut with Jayam (2002), which became a commercial success and earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut – South. He followed this with Dil (2003), Sye (2004) and Sri Anjaneyam (2004), all of which performed well at the box office.
After a series of box-office failures, Nithiin achieved a career resurgence with the romance films Ishq (2012) and Gunde Jaari Gallanthayyinde (2013). Both performances earned him nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu.
He further established himself as a leading actor with films such as Heart Attack (2014), Chinnadana Nee Kosam (2014), A Aa (2016), Bheeshma (2020) and Maestro (2021). This phase was subsequently followed by a downturn marked by several poorly received films.
In 2013, Nithiin founded his own film production studio, Shresht Movies, through which he has been involved in producing Telugu films alongside his acting career.
Nithiin serves as a brand ambassador for the Swachh Bharat campaign for the state of Telangana.
Nithiin is recognised as one of the actors associated with the romantic and commercial mainstream of 21st-century Telugu cinema. His debut win at the Filmfare Awards South, the commercial success of his early films, and his comeback in the 2010s with films like Ishq and A Aa have shaped his standing in the industry. The launch of Shresht Movies also positioned him among actor-producers in Telugu cinema.
