The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences (NIMHANS) is a medical institution located in Bengaluru, India. It functions as the apex centre for mental health education and neuroscience research in the country, providing clinical care, training and research across the related disciplines.
NIMHANS has been declared an Institute of National Importance and operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. This status enables it to design its own academic programmes and conduct independent research in the fields of mental health and the neurosciences.
