Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. is a 2003 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama film written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra under the Vinod Chopra Films banner. The film stars Sanjay Dutt in the title role of Murli Prasad Sharma, a Mumbai-based gangster who poses as a medical student to fulfil his father's dream. It marked the directorial debut of Rajkumar Hirani.

Murli Prasad Sharma, popularly known as Munna Bhai, runs a gang in Mumbai with his close friend Circuit. For years he has deceived his parents, Hari Prasad Sharma and Parvati, into believing he is a respected doctor. When his father discovers the truth during a visit, the humiliation drives Munna to enrol at a medical college to genuinely earn an M.B.B.S. degree. He clears the entrance examination by intimidation and joins the institution headed by Dr. Jagdish Chandra Asthana, whose daughter Suman (Chinki) becomes his love interest. Through unconventional methods, including the practice of "jadoo ki jhappi" (a magical hug), Munna challenges the rigid, impersonal culture of the hospital and transforms the lives of patients and staff.
The screenplay was developed by Rajkumar Hirani over several years before production began. Sanjay Dutt's casting was finalised after earlier considerations involving other actors. The film featured Sunil Dutt, Sanjay Dutt's father in real life, playing his on-screen father; this was Sunil Dutt's return to mainstream Hindi cinema after a long hiatus. Most of the film was shot in Mumbai, including hospital sequences staged on constructed sets.
The soundtrack was composed by Anu Malik with lyrics by Abbas Tyrewala, and released by Tips Music. Notable tracks include "M Bole Toh", "Apun Jaise Tapori" and "Chan Chan". The background score was composed by Sanjay Wandrekar and Atul Raninga.
Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. released theatrically on 19 December 2003. It received widespread critical acclaim for its writing, performances and humane treatment of its themes, and emerged as a commercial success. The film is considered a turning point in Sanjay Dutt's career and established Rajkumar Hirani as a leading filmmaker. Boman Irani's performance as Dr. Asthana and Arshad Warsi's portrayal of Circuit were particularly praised.
The film won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment at the 51st National Film Awards. At the Filmfare Awards, it won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Movie, and Arshad Warsi received the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. The film also received recognition at the Screen Awards, Zee Cine Awards and IIFA Awards.
The expressions "jadoo ki jhappi" and "Gandhigiri" (introduced in the sequel) entered popular Indian usage. The film popularised a more empathetic discourse around doctor–patient relationships and inspired discussions in medical and educational circles. It launched the Munna Bhai franchise, with the sequel Lage Raho Munna Bhai released in 2006. A Tamil remake titled Vasool Raja MBBS (2004) starred Kamal Haasan, and a Telugu remake Shankar Dada M.B.B.S. (2004) starred Chiranjeevi.
