Choudhary developed his cricket through the age-group and senior structure administered by the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA), which is based at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Gahunje near Pune. As a left-arm seamer capable of generating swing with the new ball, he established himself in the state's first-class and limited-overs sides.
Choudhary represents Maharashtra in the principal domestic competitions organised by the BCCI, including the Ranji Trophy (first-class), the Vijay Hazare Trophy (List A) and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (Twenty20). His ability to swing the ball into right-handed batters from over the wicket has been a feature of his bowling at the domestic level.
He was signed by Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the IPL franchise based in Chennai and led during his tenure by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and later Ravindra Jadeja. Choudhary made his IPL debut for CSK and was used primarily as a new-ball option in the powerplay overs.
As a left-arm pacer, Choudhary's principal strengths lie in upfront swing bowling and angle variation against right-handed batters. He is generally deployed in the powerplay phase in white-ball cricket, with the new ball.
