Mihir Hirwani comes from a cricketing family based in Madhya Pradesh. His father, Narendra Hirwani, is best remembered for taking 16 wickets on Test debut against the West Indies at Chennai in 1988, one of the most celebrated debut performances in international cricket. Mihir followed his father into the leg-spin tradition, taking up the same craft in age-group and senior domestic cricket.
Hirwani has played in the Indian domestic circuit as a leg-spinner, featuring in first-class matches. He has been associated with cricket structures in central India and has competed in Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tournaments organised across the various age and senior categories.
As a second-generation leg-spinner, Hirwani is part of a small group of Indian cricketers who have inherited the wrist-spin craft from a Test-playing parent. His career is often discussed in the context of his father's legacy and the continuing presence of leg-spin in Indian domestic cricket.
