Meghna Gulzar is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer who works primarily in Hindi cinema. She is known for tackling socially resonant subjects, often based on real events, and is recognised for films such as Filhaal (2002), Talvar (2015), Raazi (2018), Chhapaak (2020), and Sam Bahadur (2023). She is the daughter of poet, lyricist, and filmmaker Gulzar and actress Raakhee Gulzar.

Meghna Gulzar was born in Mumbai into a family closely associated with Indian cinema and literature. She studied at St Xavier's College in Mumbai and subsequently pursued film studies at New York University in the United States. Early in her career she assisted her father on film projects and later authored Because He Is..., a biographical book on Gulzar published in 2004.
Meghna made her directorial debut with Filhaal (2002), a Hindi film exploring surrogate motherhood, starring Tabu and Sushmita Sen. Her second feature, Just Married (2007), was a romantic drama on arranged marriage. She followed it with Dus Kahaniyaan (2007), where she contributed one of the segments in the anthology film.
Talvar (2015), produced by Vishal Bhardwaj and written by him, was based on the 2008 Noida double murder case. The film starred Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Neeraj Kabi, and received wide critical acclaim for its restrained, investigative narrative. It marked a turning point in Meghna's career and established her reputation for fact-based storytelling.
Raazi (2018) was adapted from Harinder Sikka's novel Calling Sehmat and centred on an Indian woman who marries into a Pakistani military family to gather intelligence ahead of the 1971 war. Starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, the film was a major commercial and critical success, and Meghna received the Filmfare Award for Best Director (along with the Best Film award shared with the producers).
Chhapaak (2020), starring Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey, was inspired by the life of acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The film addressed survivor rights, legal reform around acid sales, and rehabilitation, and was co-written by Meghna with Atika Chohan.
Sam Bahadur (2023) is a biographical film on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, the first Indian Army officer to be promoted to the rank of Field Marshal. The film stars Vicky Kaushal in the title role, with Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in principal roles, and was produced by RSVP Movies.
