The Max Group traces its origins to a manufacturing enterprise built by Analjit Singh in the 1980s. Over time the group exited several legacy businesses and reorganised itself around services, particularly life insurance and healthcare, which became its core verticals. The group is led by Analjit Singh as founder and chairman emeritus, with members of the next generation of the Singh family active in operating and holding entities.
The conglomerate is organised under multiple listed holding companies, each anchoring a distinct business line:
Max Life Insurance is among the larger private life insurers in India, offering protection, savings, retirement and group products. It distributes through its own agency network and through bancassurance partners.
Max Healthcare Institute operates tertiary and quaternary care hospitals, with a presence concentrated in Delhi, the National Capital Region, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Maharashtra. The network covers specialties such as oncology, cardiac sciences, neurosciences, orthopaedics and transplants.
Through Antara Senior Living, the group develops residences and care services for older adults, including independent living communities and assisted care facilities.
Max Estates focuses on Grade A commercial office developments and premium residential projects in Noida, Gurugram and other parts of the National Capital Region.
The Max Group is recognised as one of the early private entrants in India's liberalised life insurance and private hospital sectors. Its restructuring into focused listed companies is often cited as an example of value-unlocking corporate reorganisation in Indian capital markets.
