Maben emerged from the Karnataka domestic circuit at a time when women's cricket in India was administered by the Women's Cricket Association of India (WCAI), prior to its integration with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2006. She established herself as a dependable medium-pace bowler in domestic competition before earning selection to the national side.
Representing India, Maben featured in international fixtures across both the Test and One Day International formats during the late 1990s and early 2000s. She was part of an India women's setup that competed in ICC Women's World Cup cycles and bilateral series against teams such as England, Australia, New Zealand, and the West Indies. At domestic level, she was a long-standing member of the Karnataka women's team in the inter-state senior tournaments organised by the WCAI and later the BCCI.
After retiring from playing, Maben transitioned into coaching, taking up roles within the Indian domestic structure and at the franchise level. She is one of the few Indian women to hold senior international head-coach positions in the region.
Maben was appointed head coach of the Bangladesh women's national cricket team by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). Under her tenure, Bangladesh played in major regional events including the ICC Women's Asia Cup and ICC Women's World Cup Qualifier cycles, contributing to the team's development as it consolidated its standing among Asian sides.
She has worked with state teams in India and with sides in the women's franchise structure, including assignments associated with the Women's T20 Challenge and subsequent league cricket organised by the BCCI.
Maben's career bridges two distinct eras of Indian women's cricket: the WCAI era of limited resources and the post-2006 BCCI era of professionalisation. Her move into international head-coach roles, particularly with a full-member nation such as Bangladesh, marked a notable step for Indian women coaches in a field historically dominated by men and by coaches from outside the subcontinent.
