Mahindra University

Mahindra University is a state private university located in Bahadurpally, Hyderabad, in the Medchal–Malkajgiri district of Telangana, India. Promoted by the Mahindra Educational Institutions, a part of the Mahindra Group, the university offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes across engineering, management, law, design, liberal arts and other disciplines.

Background

The institution traces its origins to Mahindra École Centrale, an engineering college established in Hyderabad as a collaboration between the Mahindra Group, École Centrale Paris (now CentraleSupélec) and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. The college focused on engineering education modelled on the French grande école tradition while remaining affiliated to JNTU Hyderabad.

Following the enactment of legislation by the Government of Telangana enabling the establishment of private universities in the state, the institution was reconstituted as Mahindra University, broadening its academic scope beyond engineering.

Academics

The university is organised into multiple schools, which include programmes in:

Significance

Mahindra University is among the private universities promoted by major Indian industrial groups in Telangana, and continues the legacy of its predecessor in offering an internationally oriented engineering education. Its expansion into law, management, liberal arts and design positioned it as a multidisciplinary institution within the Hyderabad higher-education ecosystem.
