Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (MAFSU) is a state university headquartered in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India. The university specialises in education, research and extension in the fields of animal sciences, veterinary sciences, dairy technology and fisheries.
The university was established under The Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University Act, 1998. It came into formal existence on 3 December 2000, when seven colleges engaged in veterinary, dairy and fishery education were brought together from the four other state agricultural universities of Maharashtra to form a single dedicated institution.
By consolidating these constituent colleges under a unified academic and administrative framework, MAFSU functions as the apex body for animal and fishery sciences education in the state. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes across its constituent and affiliated colleges, and undertakes research and extension activities relevant to livestock, poultry, dairy and fisheries development in Maharashtra.
